Hi all,
As most know I was heading a campaign 'Herceptin For Shelagh' on the night of show for Shelagh, I was approached by a lady called Lou. Lou is a committed charity worker who has raised several thousand's pounds organising many events including several bikini car wash events. Lou asked me if I could put a show together to help 'We are macmillan cancer support' I was awaiting a date off Lou. Meanwhile Lou had jokingly asked a few guys if they would do the Full Monty? To Lou's surprise the guy's agreed I had no idea that I would end up training a troop that had never stripped! At first Lou had been promised lot's of support off several people, including a choreographer. One by one people started dropping out. I was contacted by Lou who was pulling her hair out. I told Lou not to worry and that I would give her all the support she needed. Costumes have been made and music has now been put together. All three guys will be doing two 15 mins routine's put together by myself and choreographer Mel. None of the guy's will become professional strippers. However guys are willing to be a novelty and warm up act. A date has been set and so far 90 tickets have been sold out 250 available. Friday 10th November 06 8pm-till late Charity Ladies Night in aid of 'We are macmillan cancer support' Pussy Cats Night Club, Tan bank, Wellington, Telford. Featuring Live Drag Artist 'Spangles Galore' The Guy's:- 'The Fool Monty' Craig (Private Partz) A 37 year old Farm worker and part time waiter for RaW. Craig has stripped doing 3 minute spot's for charity on a couple of occasions. Craig stepped in and joined the troop as the original third member had to drop out due to work commitments. Glen (Buster Cherry) a 22 year old Postman, who has never been on stage and is really looking forward to the challenge. Dale (Chippin-Dale) a 22 year old carpenter, who has never been on a stage, has been a great asset helping making props and is really looking forward to the challenge. This night seemed like it was never going to take place! The guy's had been let down by so many people who offered help and support. It was a sad case of just words and no action! I was approached by Lou (Event organiser), I never hesitated. I know a little bit about stripping, but my skills are mainly in promotions. The event has a lot of unsung heroes! Mel, Lucy, Conrad (Black Stallion) all helped with music and choreography! John (Adrenalin) helped with combating nerves and offered some excellent advice which the guy's took on board. Nick (Wizard Roadshow) (RaW Ent's special events manager) Nick and his team looked after the doors and waitered on the girls. A special thanks to Ann Baggott (Handbag Promotions) Ann helped so much! Ann altered costumes, sewed badges on shirts, even paid for some of the costumes and run the guy's about to various locations, for practise and guest spot's! The original pub where we was practising, allowed us an hour to practise and soon filled up, with customers. We all needed somewhere to practise and Ann allowed practise to take place at her home, as it's not to far from Telford. A few practise session's took place at Conrad's Gym (Stamina Fitness). This event took months of practise! None of the guy's have ever professionally stripped before! The night was compered by Spangles Galore, who had the girls in fits of laughter, with his usual quick one liners and funny stories! Spangles sang live all the way through and was a huge help to the success of the night! The guy's did two routines, Tease spot where they stepped out in Grease outfits and danced to Grease megamix! in second half they stepped out as American coppers and did a slow romantic theme to 'Hero' (Enrique Iglesias) all soon changed as music kicked into Tainted Love (Maralyn Manson Version) The guy's went from Good cop's to Bad cop's! The guy's had the girls dancing and screaming! A lot of the girls commented, saying it was "refreshing to see ordinary guy's getting up on stage and doing a stint for such a good cause"! Scott one of RaW Ent's doorstaff offered to take his kit off, a jug was sent round and £105.00 was in the jug! Scott was a great sport and did not let the girls down! Scott did full monty as well! Lou (Event organiser) sadly lost her nan on the morning of the show. I didn't think Lou would attend and I was prepared to handle the nights events. I was surprised by Lou attending and Lou said that her nan would have wanted her to carry on. Lou has organised several charity events and in the last seven years, has raised £22,000! for Macmillan Cancer Support. The night as a whole was a huge success.

Well said Jag!
There were indeed a lot of unsung heroes helping out on this one, they all deserve a pat on the back. The Fool Monty guys did a warm-up routine at the Connaught Hotel for Double Impact and Scorpion a couple of weeks ago and both Dean and John were very supportive of what the guys were doing for their chosen charity. Well done also to Scott - should we watch this space? Tuesday nights will not be the same without practise! |
