Exclamation

Thank you to everyone who helped out on Friday,it was fab to see so many great acts, many of whom are new to our part of the world. We had a great time and it was a pleasure to donate our bed and breakfast to most of the acts and also the drinks upstairs that was definately more than one drink each!!
However the negative tone of this thread is completely un-necessary, Who can control the weather?? We find it incredible that "Neil" would make comments such as "No-one would sit in a non-ac venue" and"You cant expect to get class acts with just a fan blowing". We book class acts regularly, and they are professionals who deal with whatever happens on the night same as the bar team. Our acts come and perform at our venue because we are also professional, provide a great atmostphere and treat people with respect.
Our bar is geared towards live acts, we have spent a considerable amount on the areas of our business that matters the most. We are sure the acts that we book appreciate our new sound system...we know our customers do. Also those coming from out of town will not realise that for the last two weeks we have had the entire front of our building re-done with lit boxes to advertise what we have on that weekend....THATS good business sense Neil..(esp with the thunderstorms and rain forecast ahead!)
As we have said ALL proceeds from the auction and raffle and donations go to the charities involved,However we did not have time to get through much of it and incredibly 2 of the larger items, the people with the winning bids didnt pay and didnt collect them!!!so we have lots of great things to auction off still.
This Friday we have booked Crystal D'Canter ( who really is fab!) to host our auction and also Etienne as a special guest AND we are paying these acts their cost.
We will also be selling the remainder of the raffle tickets and drawing it on Friday night as well. Its not easy to raise money for charities (we know last year in total we raised over £3,000 for a local Aids charity The Lodge at Pasque),its also not about getting money in our till - it costs alot to organise the events and it certainly doesnt help with the boiling weather AND NEGATIVE people who instead of supporting bloody hard work by all concerned just look for some small thing to have a go at!

For any sceptics out there, all our promotional material is directly from the charities involved with all collections taken in SEALED containers that are then collected by the charities and they let us know how much was raised.... NOT open buckets with a hand written piece of paper stuck on the side!

When we finish our event fully we will let you know how much we raised via our website.
